SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — A local advocacy group plans to hold a “No Kings: Vote Early” event in South Orange on Saturday, Oct. 17.

SOMA Action, the group that helped to spearhead three previous No King protests in the area, will hold a fourth event from noon to 1 p.m. at Spiotta Park in downtown South Orange. Unlike the others, which featured speakers and marches, this event will be focused on voter outreach ahead of the 2026 election, organizers said.

The group’s co-president, Erika Malinoski, said the tactical shift from protesting to “voter mobilization” is an evolution from prior efforts.

“The energy that brought a thousand people into the streets since we first organized No Kings in June 2025 hasn’t faded — it’s sharpened,” Malinoski said. “We’ve marched. We’ve rallied. Now we’re channeling all of that into the single most powerful act of democratic participation there is: voting.”
