• May Proclaimed ‘Mental Health Awareness Month' by Sparta Township Council (tapinto.net) — Sparta’s Township Council has officially proclaimed May as Mental Health Awareness Month, encouraging all residents, organizations, and providers to promote mental wellness and reduce stigma. Mayor Dean Blumetti read the proclamation, and town hall was illuminated in teal to honor the cause and signal support for those facing mental health challenges.
   

• Sparta Elks to host Sussex County's only Fourth of July parade (spartaindependent.com subscription) — Sparta Elks are bringing back the town’s Fourth of July Parade, billed as Sussex County’s only Independence Day parade and stepping off at 10:30 a.m. along East Shore Trail. The route runs through White Deer Plaza to Dykstra Park, where families can enjoy live music, food trucks, games, a beer garden, and kids’ activities.
