• Good Samaritan Recalls Rip Current Rescue (thesandpaper.net) — Surf City fire and EMS are urging everyone to stay out of the ocean until guarded beaches open June 19, after multiple dangerous rip-current rescues involving local first responders. A recent Ship Bottom incident saw young bystanders and an off-duty lifeguard pull swimmers from the water while Surf City crews handled lifesaving efforts and now stress calling 911 and only swimming when lifeguards are on duty.
