The victim, initially driven to Community Medical Center in Toms River before transfer to New Brunswick, survived after being shot in the leg during a chase that began at a Manchester gas station. Investigators say continued work led them to identify the alleged Dodge Charger driver, who is already in custody on an unrelated matter.

4. Longtime Toms River CPA And Community Leader Dies (jerseyshoreonline.com) — Toms River is mourning longtime CPA, educator, and community volunteer John P. Wauters, who died September 19 at age 82. A Main Street fixture since the 1970s, he taught at Ocean County College, served on local boards, helped launch The House of Hope, and supported clean-water efforts, with his family requesting memorial donations to the Hope Center on Chestnut Street.
