The suit centers on Rodrick's claims that Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer interfered with his authority over the Toms River Police Department, with the judge finding no factual basis to keep state officials as defendants.

Toms River North students paint their parking spots (app.com) — Incoming seniors at Toms River High School North kept a beloved tradition alive on Aug. 19, painting and personalizing their parking spots ahead of the new school year. Advisors supervised as students and some parents turned the lot into a colorful display of creativity. Toms River Regional schools are set to begin the 2026-27 year on Wednesday, Sept. 2.
   

3. 11-Year-Old Girl Killed in Berkeley Township E-Dirt Bike Crash (wpgtalkradio.com) — An 11-year-old girl involved in an electric dirt bike crash in Berkeley Township was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where she was pronounced dead. Authorities say the bike ran a stop sign and hit a pickup truck, and multiple Ocean County agencies are still investigating the tragic collision.

Swarming Defense Helps Young Jackson Team Grow up Fast in Shutout Win (shoresportsinsider.com) — A young Jackson Township football team opened its season with a 21-0 shutout of Ocean, powered by a dominant defense and late scoring burst, and now turns its attention to facing Toms River South next week. The matchup will give local fans an early look at how Toms River South stacks up against a resurgent Jackson squad in Class A South play.

Cape May becomes third N.J. county to demand Sanctuary Statehood repeal - (savejersey.com) — Toms River is cited among New Jersey towns that have recently passed resolutions opposing the state's sanctuary-style immigration policies, alongside several counties now pushing for repeal. Cape May County's new resolution challenges state limits on cooperation with federal immigration authorities and calls for voter ID and changes to automatic voter registration, signaling growing organized resistance in GOP-leaning areas.
