• Cement Truck Crash Kills Union High School Student During Family Vacation (patch.com) — Union residents are mourning Union High School senior and Junior ROTC member Olivia Belloso, who died after a cement truck crash in Florida that also seriously injured her parents and two brothers. The family had been headed to a cruise when their taxi was struck, and a GoFundMe has raised tens of thousands of dollars to help with medical and housing costs. Township officials have publicly offered condolences and support.
   

• Union's Revolutionary War History: The Caldwell Parsonage (tapinto.net) — Union’s Caldwell Parsonage, site of Hannah Caldwell’s 1780 death, is being spotlighted as the township revisits its pivotal Revolutionary War role ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary. Local historian Barbara La Mort explains how the killing galvanized support for the American cause and shaped Union’s history. Residents can learn more or schedule tours through the Union Township Historical Society.
   

• Top-Performing Students Honored for Excellence on State Assessments (tapinto.net) — Some of Union’s top-performing students were honored this week for earning Advanced Proficient scores on the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments, the state’s highest achievement level. Families, educators, and local officials, including the mayor and superintendent, praised the students’ hard work and the support behind them. The annual ceremony highlights Union’s academic standouts in English language arts and math.
