Fatal Drunk Driving Crash Near NJ School Leads To Charges, Officials Say
The death-by-auto charges come roughly three months after the fatal crash.
PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal car crash from over the summer that took place near a Passaic County school, officials say.
Danny Serrano, 26, of Orange, faces death-by-auto charges after he was found responsible for a fatal drunk driving crash in July.
On July 6, around 4:15 a.m., police were called to Route 21 South's Dayton Avenue exit in Passaic, near Muhammed Ali School #23, on reports that two Toyota Camrys collided.

Investigators determined that Serrano was driving with a blood alcohol content above the legal limit when he struck the 32-year-old's vehicle, according to prosecutors.
He was arrested on Tuesday without incident and charged with death by auto and death by auto within 1,000 feet of a school. It's not clear why it took more than three months for investigators to arrest Serrano.
If convicted, Serrano faces a maximum of 30 years in prison.
