Man Groped Woman In Wayne Mall, Police Seek Help: Officials (patch.com) — Wayne residents are being urged to help police identify a man who allegedly groped a woman inside a store at Willowbrook Mall on July 6. Detectives have released surveillance footage of the suspect and are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Kimberly Fryer at the Wayne Police Department.
   

2. Wayne Home Destroyed by Fire Could Be Rebuilt Under Revised Plans (tapinto.net) — A fire-destroyed home on Point View Parkway may be rebuilt under scaled-back plans now before the Wayne Board of Adjustment. The revised design trims square footage, roof height, and setbacks but still needs variances for floor area and impervious coverage, so neighbors and officials will be watching Monday night's hearing closely.
   

3. Wayne Community Center Reopening Pushed Back to October 3 (tapinto.net) — Wayne's Community Center will stay closed until at least Saturday, Oct. 3, as crews finish replacing fire-damaged electrical equipment and upgrading the building's power system. In the meantime, day camp has shifted to Captain Kilroy Park, Parks and Recreation is operating from the municipal complex, and the Wayne Interfaith Network Food Pantry is relying on mailed grocery gift cards while in-person distributions are paused.
   

4. Fore a Great Future: Boys & Girls Club of Clifton Plans Golf Classic (thecliftontimes.com) — Golfers and supporters are invited to Preakness Valley Golf Course in Wayne on Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, for the Great Futures Golf Classic. The day-long outing, with lunch, dinner, and prizes, raises funds for Boys & Girls Club of Clifton programs that give local kids safe spaces, mentoring, and opportunities to thrive.
   

5. Fire chiefs warn NJ county they can't fight fuel fires without foam (northjersey.com subscription) — Passaic County fire chiefs warn that without replacement firefighting foam, they may be unable to control large fuel fires like tanker crashes that could affect communities including Wayne. After turning in older PFAS-based foam for disposal, they're asking county leaders for $340,500 to restock a regional foam unit and replace an aging response vehicle.
