NJ Man Sentenced After Deadly Crash Slices Car In Half

GLOUCESTER COUNTY, NJ — A 26-year-old man was sentenced for his role in a deadly high-speed crash in 2022, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office said.

Gabriel H. Woolson, of Williamstown, was sentenced to six years in jail after he was convicted of second-degree death by auto, reckless driving, and speeding.

On Dec. 14, 2022, at around 5:40 p.m., Woolson was driving his 2011 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 west on the South Black Horse Pike at an "extremely high rate of speed."

Evan Silverstein, 52, of Marlton, was driving east before he made a left turn across the westbound lanes.

Woolson hit Silverstein's car, which then split in half, authorities said.

The front half of the vehicle went more than 100 feet away into the parking lot of a strip mall.

Silverstein was thrown from the car and later died.

A passenger in the Corvette was also hurt. Woolson was found not guilty of assault by auto in connection with this injury.

According to detectives, Woolson's car got up to 119 miles per hour three seconds before the crash. He also did not use the brakes until about one second before the collision.

Woolson must serve 85 percent of the six years before being eligible for parole.
