• Woodbridge police officer hit on Rt 35 while helping pedestrian (nj1015.com) — A Woodbridge police officer was seriously injured Tuesday night while trying to pull a distressed pedestrian out of traffic on Route 35 near Midfield Road in Avenel. Officer Alexander Rebelo suffered major injuries and remains hospitalized, while both the driver and patient stayed on scene. Police are still investigating and are asking anyone who saw the incident to contact Woodbridge Police at 732-634-7700.

• Michele Stahl Sumka (washingtonjewishweek.com) — A woman who grew up in Woodbridge is remembered for a life devoted to family, Judaism, and early childhood education after passing away at 82. Her journey took her from New Brunswick and Woodbridge to Chicago, Kenya, Sarajevo, and Tel Aviv, where she built Jewish community, led child development programs, and later served as a spiritual director in Washington, D.C.
