Engineers describe how the treatment "train" evolved over five years, from struggling vegetation and clogged screens to a community-friendly park space that now informs aquifer recharge planning and PFAS monitoring across eastern Albuquerque.
   

2. Albuquerque advocacy group voices concerns over ICE activity and racial profiling (koat.com) — An Albuquerque immigrant advocacy group is pressing city leaders over recent ICE activity, alleged racial profiling, and how well local protections actually shield immigrant families. At a press conference in Albuquerque, organizers, families, and officials debated the city's Safer Community Places Ordinance and so‑called sanctuary-style policies, highlighting tensions between federal enforcement and community safety in both Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
   

3. Neighborhood uproar turns routine ditch maintenance into rescue mission on Albuquerque's West Side (abqjournal.com subscription) — Neighbors on Albuquerque's West Side halted routine arroyo trash-catch maintenance after discovering turtles, frogs and other wildlife living in the murky sump near Sagebrush Church. After a viral social media post and calls to the mayor's office, city Open Space and Environmental Health crews joined AMAFCA to carefully relocate animals while still draining and cleaning the hazardous site.
   

4. Albuquerque man sentenced for multiple armed robberies across Albuquerque and Rio Rancho (koat.com) — A 40-year-old Albuquerque man has been sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for a string of armed bank robberies in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho that netted more than $140,000. Investigators tied him to four heists between 2024 and 2025 using fingerprints, surveillance footage and his black BMW, and he'll face two years of supervised release after prison.
   

5. Family files lawsuit over fatal I-25 crash, citing lack of streetlights (koat.com) — A wrongful death lawsuit over a 2024 crash on I‑25 near Albuquerque's South Valley claims poor lighting contributed to the death of 19‑year‑old Brianna Sais‑Ramirez. Her family is suing NMDOT, the City of Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, PNM, and others, arguing the dark stretch south of the Sunport is notorious for pedestrian fatalities and lacked needed streetlights.
