📰 News we're reading
1. Bernalillo County Fire Rescue opens new all electric fire station (dailydispatch.com) — A new all-electric Bernalillo County Fire Rescue station is now serving Albuquerque's North Valley near Osuna and Edith, featuring New Mexico's first electric fire truck and a full solar array. Officials say the energy-efficient, state-of-the-art facility is designed to boost public safety while cutting environmental impact, and firefighters marked its opening with the traditional 'wet down' of the new truck.

2. Albuquerque's Rest on Red traffic program gains national attention (krqe.com) — Albuquerque drivers along Lead, Coal, and Broadway are seeing real changes from the city's "Rest on Red" traffic-safety program, which keeps lights red for speeders and rewards slower drivers. After three years, officials say speeding is down, residents feel safer, and other U.S. cities are now asking Albuquerque for guidance as more intersections may get the system.

3. New Mexico officials to begin search for developers for the state fairgrounds (krqe.com) — State officials are moving ahead with a massive redevelopment of Albuquerque's Expo New Mexico fairgrounds in the International District, including new housing, a 15,000-seat stadium, roads, green space, and business areas. An anchor developer could be chosen this month, with design work stretching into 2028 and construction possibly starting around 2029, while the State Fair continues operating on-site.

4. Abiquiu Reservoir releases millions of gallons to replenish Rio Grande (koat.com) — Water managers have released about 2,000 acre-feet from Abiquiu Reservoir to temporarily re-wet the Rio Grande through the Albuquerque stretch, where the river has been dry. As the modest flow moves south, officials will study how local vegetation, wildlife, and river conditions respond, helping Albuquerque prepare for future natural flows expected later this fall.
