New Mexico family suing APD seeks department policy overhaul after 2024 fatal OIS (krqe.com) — A wrongful death lawsuit over the 2024 police shooting of Mariah Voigt is pushing for changes in how Albuquerque officers use drone information during encounters, especially when objects might be mistaken for weapons. Albuquerque City Council denies permit for controversial shelter near Sunport (krqe.com) — Albuquerque City Council has revoked a permit for a drug-treatment shelter operating in a former Ramada Inn near the Sunport, after nearby residents and businesses complained about crime and nuisance issues. The shelter's operator says they followed city guidance and improved security, but now awaits official notice and next steps as the Planning Department and council decide whether the facility can continue operating.

City Council Expands Recycling Access for Albuquerque, NM Renters and City Facilities (wasteadvantagemag.com) — Albuquerque renters in multi-family housing will soon gain guaranteed access to on-site recycling, after the City Council closed loopholes that let some complexes pay fees without providing bins. The new ordinance also requires recycling at all city-owned buildings, with implementation for municipal facilities within 180 days and for apartments by January 1, 2027.

Lawmakers hear about one company's nuclear fusion plans in New Mexico (krqe.com) — New Mexico lawmakers just heard how Pacific Fusion's new demonstration facility in Albuquerque's Mesa del Sol could shape the state's energy future and create hundreds of local jobs. Company representatives say fusion could deliver carbon-free, on-demand power and major ratepayer savings by the mid-2030s, though some legislators question investing heavily in a technology still a decade or more away.

- Murphy has been found!
Despite multiple searches around the yard and house, he had gotten into the crawlspace and made himself comfortable for a nap. I even braved the… (Nextdoor Elder Homestead) - I've really come to appreciate the beauty hiding in a Desert Willow tree as seen through a camera lens.
