1. Albuquerque company chosen for State Fairgrounds redevelopment master plan (newsradiokkob.com) — An Albuquerque-based firm has been chosen to craft the master plan for redeveloping the State Fairgrounds and surrounding International District, including new parks, housing, commercial space and a possible sports stadium. The multi-decade project is expected to support hundreds of jobs annually and could significantly reshape neighborhood safety, recreation and economic opportunities for nearby Albuquerque residents.
   

2. Bernalillo County seeks artist for project at new fire station (krqe.com) — Bernalillo County is seeking an artist to create an outdoor artwork for the new Fire & Rescue Station 36 on Edith NE in Albuquerque's North Valley, with an $80,000 all-inclusive budget. The piece should honor the station's service and BCFR heritage, complementing a modern facility that will soon house New Mexico's first electric fire truck; applications are due Oct. 23.
   

3. Democratic governor nominee tours Cuidando Los Niños in Albuquerque (kob.com) — An Albuquerque nonprofit helping families experiencing homelessness, Cuidando Los Niños, hosted Democratic gubernatorial nominee Deb Haaland for a tour focused on childcare and support services. She praised the Walter Street facility's expansion and universal childcare funding, and said she wants similar centers across New Mexico so more parents and children can access safe care and stability.
   

4. Albuquerque ends city recognition for neighborhood coalitions in 5-4 vote (kob.com) — Albuquerque residents should know the City Council has voted 5-4 to stop formally recognizing neighborhood coalitions, changing who automatically gets development notices and who can appeal new projects. Individual neighborhood associations can still challenge decisions, but must document member support, and councilors are weighing new appeal fees that could further affect how neighbors influence future developments across the city.
   

5. Albuquerque band Savings takes 'Stressed Out' sky-high (koat.com) — An Albuquerque-area band, Savings, just performed its single "Stressed Out" from a hot-air balloon during Balloon Fiesta, turning their first flight into a hometown tribute. Band members, who grew up attending the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, say the sky-high acoustic session captured how deeply the event and the city shape their music and identity.
