📰 News we're reading
1. Lottery Open For Affordable, 'Lakeside At Bedford' Townhome (patch.com) — An affordable townhome at Lakeside at Bedford in Bedford Hills is now available through a lottery, with applications due by Oct. 2 and the drawing on Oct. 12. Qualified households under specific income limits can buy the updated multi-level unit, zoned for Bedford Central schools, at an estimated $350,000 plus taxes and common charges.

2. Bedford urges state to repave Route 172 (halstonmedia.com) — Bedford officials are pressing New York State to finally repave a badly deteriorated stretch of Route 172 between Sunnyfield Farm and the Fox Lane campus, which many local students travel twice daily. The Town Board unanimously passed a resolution to the state DOT and is urging residents to file complaints as well, arguing the potholes and ruts now pose a safety risk for drivers and school traffic.

3. Bedford Planning Board welcomes one project, another? Not so much (therecorder.org) — Bedford's Planning Board has given preliminary site plan approval to a modest 10‑unit apartment building on Adams Street in Bedford Hills, while sharply questioning a taller 12‑unit proposal nearby over its size, variances, and visual impact. Both projects include design, parking, and fire‑safety issues that could shape future housing and neighborhood character in Bedford Hills.

4. Nonprofit adds a Mount Kisco location to combat hunger (therecorder.org) — A new Meals on Main St. kitchen in Mount Kisco is expanding food support for northern Westchester, with officials stressing that Bedford and Mount Kisco now share a powerful community partner against hunger. Using rescued food, a commercial-grade church kitchen, and a mobile pantry truck, the nonprofit will deliver prepared meals directly to local organizations, schools, and neighborhoods instead of asking clients to travel.
