• Bellport shooting suspect at large; motive unknown (trihamletnews.com) — A man from North Bellport was fatally shot at Robert Rowley Park on Sept. 29, and Suffolk County homicide detectives are still searching for the suspect, described as a Black male who fled in a red sedan. Local officials say they’ve stepped up fencing, access limits, patrols, and social service outreach at the North Bellport park, while community advocates push for longer-term safety solutions and urge anyone with information to contact police. 
• Long Island chefs put local food on the table to fight hunger (tbrnewsmedia.com) — A chef who spent about a decade cooking at The Bellport and living in the Bellport area is now headlining a high-end charity dinner series to fight hunger on Long Island. He and other chefs will serve locally sourced, multi-course meals in Islip through early November, with all $250 ticket proceeds going to Long Island Cares to support food-insecure families across the region.
