ISLANDIA, NY — The North Shore Youth Council received a $11,274 donation from Suffolk OTB and Jake’s 58 Casino Hotel through the casino’s “Donate Your Change” program, officials announced.

The funds, generated by casino patrons who opt to donate spare change, will support programs serving youth, families, and seniors across communities from Shoreham-Wading River to Mount Sinai.

“We are an alternative to risky behavior that youth may participate in,” said Robert Woods, executive director of the North Shore Youth Council. “We provide safe spaces that are designed and led by youth.”

“We are truly grateful to President and CEO Phil Boyle and the patrons of Jake’s 58 for their financial assistance and plan to put the donation to the best effect for those we serve,” said Woods, who was a client of the organization when he was 5 years old. “It has been lovely to come back and help the organization that helped me."

In addition to providing before- and after-school programs and programs for youth, NSYC offers classes for parents, opportunities for seniors, and even family activities. These are offered at multiple locations.

“It is such a privilege for Jake’s 58 Casino to support the important work being done by the North Shore Youth Council and to thank them for their decades of service to our community,” Boyle said. “We truly appreciate the generosity of casino patrons who make Long Island a better place through their participation in our 'Donate Your Change’ program each month.”
