• Central Islip residents press for more rail crossing fixes despite MTA's planned eliminations (newsbreak.com) — Federal funding is moving forward to redesign dangerous Long Island Rail Road crossings, including Wicks Road/Fifth Avenue in Brentwood, which could ease long backups and improve emergency response times. Central Islip residents are still pushing to add other trouble spots, while MTA officials say they're studying five crossings overall with state and county partners.
