The Brewster Carmel Garden Club Standard Flower Show entitled "America the Beautiful--250 Years" will be held Friday, Aug. 21 from 2 - 4:00 pm and&nbsp; Saturday, August 22 from 10 am - 4 pm.
The show will be located at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2103 Route 6, Brewster, NY.&nbsp; Enter on Old Route 6, turn on Husted Road where you'll see the church parking lot and entrance to the building.
In addition to displays of garden flowers, herbs, vegetables, potted plants, and terrariums, there will be educational displays, botanical arts creations and numerous floral arrangements vying for ribbons in this fun, competitive event.
A highlight of this free event is the club's incredible Chinese Auction where participants place their purchased raffle tickets in the bags in front of the item(s) they're interested in winning.
So, mark your calendars and plan to join the members of your local community gardeners at this totally free event. Whether you are an avid gardener or just want to see some breathtaking blooms and catch up with friends, there’s something for everyone. Come for the flowers, stay for the community!

The Putnam Chorale announces the opening of registration for new and returning singers for its Fall 2026 semester. The 80-person community choir, entering its 42nd year, offers experienced and novice singers an opportunity to learn and perform vibrant classic and contemporary choral music.&nbsp;Singers can participate in rehearsals for free through the month of September, to ensure that the fit is right.&nbsp; If the singer wishes to continue, the semester tuition is $160 and includes all the required music. Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings at the Carmel High School in Casey Hall, from 7pm to 9:30pm.&nbsp;Auditions are not required, except to place the singer in the appropriate section (Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Bass). Some experience singing with a choir or other musical group previously is preferred.
