Community Support Helps NYC Artists Find Stages, Jobs and Creative Connection
The Art Meetup and The Creative Plug help New Yorkers create, connect, share their work, and discover opportunities to move forward.
New York City has so many talented people, but it can still feel almost impossible to find a space where you can share your work, meet people naturally, and be welcomed without already knowing someone.
That is why The Art Meetup exists.
It is a public, donation-based gathering for artists, performers, job seekers, creatives, neighbors, and anyone who wants more real connection in their life.

We host open mics, community art galleries, workshops, artist showcases, wellness activities, and public art projects across New York City.
People come to perform, make art, share resources, meet someone new, or simply spend a few hours around other people who are also trying to build something.

There are already so many places where you have to pay a lot, know the right person, or prove that you belong before anyone gives you a chance. I do not want The Art Meetup to become another one of those spaces.
It is open to the public on purpose.
This Is About More Than Events
The internet gives us the feeling that we are always connected, but a lot of people still feel alone.
Artists have followers but no one showing up to see their work. Job seekers are applying every day but still do not know where to find real opportunities. Creatives are trying to build careers without the money or connections that make the process easier.
People need more than content. We need rooms where we can talk to each other, create together, exchange information, and feel like we are part of something real.
Across 18 independently produced gatherings, The Art Meetup has received more than 2,000 RSVPs. People have displayed their art, performed in front of live audiences, learned something new, exchanged resources, and made connections that continued after the event ended.
Our final and largest gathering of 2026 will take place on September 12 at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. But this support is not only for one event. It helps us continue creating public programs and opportunities throughout the year.
The Community Continues Online
The Creative Plug is the online side of this work.
It is a weekly Substack newsletter where I research and share New York City jobs, remote U.S. jobs, casting calls, creative opportunities, career resources, and practical guides.
More than 5,600 people currently subscribe.
I know people do not always have hours to search through different websites hoping to find one good lead. I also know that a lot of opportunities never reach the people who could benefit from them most.
The Creative Plug puts those opportunities in one place so people have somewhere to begin.

Where Community Support Goes
The events may be open to the public, but they are not free to produce.
There is sound, equipment, insurance, transportation, art supplies, signage, technology, research, artist support, promotion, and all the work that happens before anyone walks into the room.
This has been independently built and funded, but one person cannot carry the full cost of community forever.
$10 can help with art materials, guest supplies, or research for a weekly resource.
$20 can help support a creative activity, workshop, or new collection of job opportunities.
$50 can go toward transportation, equipment, technology, or event production.
$100 can help support an artist, performer, facilitator, newsletter resource, or a larger part of a public program.
You can contribute $10, $20, $50, $100, or whatever feels possible for you. These are direct community contributions and are not currently represented as tax-deductible charitable donations.
Businesses and Companies Can Support Too
We are also looking for local businesses, employers, and companies that want to put real resources back into the community.
That could look like sponsoring an event, workshop, artist, performer, or newsletter edition. It could also mean providing art supplies, refreshments, useful products, gift cards, job opportunities, training, or direct production support.
Partners may be recognized through the newsletter, social media, event materials, onsite signage, giveaways, and post-event documentation.
This is not about covering the room in logos.
It is about giving people something they can actually use. A stage. Art supplies. A job lead. A workshop. A meal. A reason to keep creating.
The Art Meetup is not currently a 501(c)(3), so business support should be arranged as a commercial sponsorship or direct community contribution unless an eligible fiscal sponsor is involved.
Help Us Keep This Going
The goal is simple.
Give people room to create.
Share opportunities that can help someone move forward.
Make it easier for New Yorkers to find each other in real life.
