• Moriches Chamber Announces Annual Fall Fair (southshorepress.com) — Main Street in Center Moriches will close to traffic on Sunday, Oct. 18 for the Chamber of Commerce's annual Fall Fair, running 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Vendors can now register online or by mail, with discounted rates for chamber members and nonprofits and higher fees for food trucks and day-of signups. Organizers stress that payment is required to reserve a space. 
• Community rallies around Center Moriches man airlifted home from Ithaca (greaterlongisland.com) — A Center Moriches resident is back on Long Island after being medically airlifted from Ithaca following a severe seizure, but he still faces a long hospital stay and recovery. Friends launched a GoFundMe that has already raised tens of thousands of dollars to help cover medevac and medical expenses. Neighbors, music fans, and craft beer and hot sauce communities are rallying around him.
