Silver Alert Issued for Missing Central Islip Man, 78, With Dementia (longisland.com) — Police have issued a Silver Alert for 78-year-old Orlander Hunter of Wilson Boulevard in Central Islip, missing since July 27 and living with dementia and high blood pressure. Neighbors are urged to watch for a 5-foot-9, 175-pound Black man with black hair and brown eyes, and call 911 or Third Squad detectives with any information.
   

2. Rio Gomez Named Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week (oursportscentral.com) — Baseball fans in Central Islip can celebrate Long Island Ducks pitcher Rio Gomez being named Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week after a dominant home debut at Fairfield Properties Ballpark. The team also highlights earlier weekly honors for pitcher Tanner Jacobson, underscoring a strong season for the Ducks’ pitching staff.
   

3. Proposed Islandia mixed-use development draws questions from community (news12.com) — A major mixed-use project in nearby Islandia, with more than 360 apartments, a hotel and retail space, is raising questions about traffic and affordability that matter to Central Islip residents too. Central Islip resident Werlhens Francois warned that young adults are being priced out of Long Island and criticized the lack of clear affordable housing plans.
   

4. Driver charged in DWI wreck that killed motorcyclist in Lindenhurst (greaterlongisland.com) — A motorcyclist was killed in a late-night crash in Lindenhurst, and the driver of another vehicle is charged with DWI and set to be arraigned in Suffolk First District Court in Central Islip. Investigators are asking anyone with information about the collision to contact Suffolk police’s Major Case Unit confidentially.
   

5. Driver Arrested for DWAI/Drugs; Motorcyclist Injured (lilifepolitics.com) — A Holtsville motorcyclist was seriously injured in a late-night crash on Nicolls Road in Holbrook, and the Tesla driver is charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs. The driver was held overnight and arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip, and police are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Fifth Squad.
