• Horseheads man pleads guilty to murder in death of 3-year-old child (stargazette.com) — Chemung County residents are learning that a Horseheads man has pleaded guilty in Chemung County Court to second-degree murder in the 2025 death of a 3-year-old child. The plea deal calls for 18 years to life in state prison, with sentencing set for August and the defendant held in the Chemung County Jail until then.

• Historic Big Boy 4014 Locomotive Chugs Through Elmira (weny.com) — Elmira crowds turned out Thursday to watch the historic Big Boy 4014 steam locomotive roll through downtown and over the Chemung River. Rail fans from across the region and beyond packed viewing spots as the train continued its journey toward Philadelphia for upcoming July 4th celebrations.
