• Two individuals arrested after traffic stop in Elmira on Tuesday (mytwintiers.com) — Elmira police say a Tuesday traffic stop near Euclid Avenue and West First Street led to the seizure of about a half-pound of meth, other suspected narcotics, cash, and an imitation pistol. Two men were arrested on serious felony drug charges as part of a Gun Involved Violence Elimination detail operating in the city. 
• Historic Big Boy 4014 Locomotive Chugs Through Elmira (weny.com) — Downtown Elmira drew big crowds Thursday as the massive Big Boy 4014 steam locomotive rumbled past the Clemens Center and over the Chemung River, giving rail fans a rare close-up. Visitors from across the region and beyond lined the tracks before the train continued east toward Philadelphia for America’s 250th anniversary celebrations.
