First-Time Homebuyer Workshop Planned By County Legislators, Realtor Board
The workshop will teach first-time buyers about unforeseen financial assistance for which they might qualify when buying a home.
VALLEY STREAM, NY. — First-time home buyers will be able to get some insight from professionals next month, as the Long Island Housing Partnership, the State of New York Mortgage Agency, the Long Island Board of Realtors and a pair of Nassau County legislators team up to host a workshop at Gateway Christian Center in Valley Stream.
The workshop will seek to give prospective buyers extra information about financial incentives they might qualify for when trying to buy a home for the first time, assistance county legislators Cynthia Nuñez and Carrié Solages said could come in handy. The tough Long Island housing market, they said, will force homeowners to take advantage of every opportunity at their disposal.
“Amidst our nation’s growing affordability crisis, Long Island has become an even more challenging market to enter, and these workshops are designed to help first-time homebuyers navigate the process successfully,” Solages said. “Thank you to our partners at LIBOR, SONYMA and the Long Island Housing Partnership for pooling their resources to host a workshop that will deliver essential information to District 3 residents and all of Nassau County’s communities.”
The legislators said the workshop would also seek to inform residents about the best procedures to follow when going through the homebuying process, from financial preparation to loan procurement. While experts predict Long Island's housing market will heat up in the coming months, Nuñez said it's still a complicated, intimidating process.
“Navigating the housing market can be incredibly daunting, but no one should have to do it alone. By bringing experts from LIBOR, SONYMA, and the Long Island Housing Partnership directly to our neighborhood, we are providing the tools and financial resources necessary to turn the dream of homeownership into a reality for our community,” Nuñez said. “Knowledge is power, especially when it comes to the complex process of purchasing a home. This workshop is a vital opportunity for our constituents to access grants and learn the best financial practices to succeed in today’s market. We are committed to making the ‘American Dream’ accessible and affordable for everyone in District 14.”
