Top 10 Long Island field hockey teams to begin the 2026 season (newsday.com) — Garden City's field hockey team opens the 2026 season ranked third on Long Island after a dominant run to last year's Class B title and a narrow state semifinal loss. With top scorers Casey Psaki and Grace Brantuk returning, the Trojans are expected to contend again despite an early-season setback against rival Manhasset.
   

5. Episcopal services of remembrance planned as US marks 25 years since 9/11 attacks (episcopalnewsservice.org) — Garden City residents are invited to a Day of Remembrance at the Cathedral of the Incarnation on Sept. 11, with the church open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and services at noon and 6 p.m. The observance is part of a wider network of Episcopal commemorations in New York and nationwide marking 25 years since the 9/11 attacks.
