• POA Family Fun Festival Sept. 27th (gcnews.com) — Garden City families are invited to a free POA Family Fall Festival on Sunday, September 27, from 1–4 p.m. at the Garden City Bird Sanctuary on Tanners Pond Road. Residents and their guests can enjoy games, crafts, pumpkin painting, tours of the sanctuary, and the Best Pie in Garden City contest, making it a relaxed way to celebrate the season together. 
• High school roundup: Girls and boys soccer, plus field hockey results (newsday.com) — Garden City boys soccer stayed unbeaten at 4–0 with goals from Henry Koester and Kyle Swanson in a 2–0 Nassau AA-I win over Mepham. The roundup also highlights other Long Island high school girls and boys soccer and field hockey results, giving Garden City fans a sense of how neighboring programs are faring early in the season.
