Finger Lakes Federal Credit Union secures $50,000 grant for nonprofits (fingerlakes1.com) — A Geneva-based credit union has landed a $50,000 grant to boost seven nonprofits, including the Rotary Club of Geneva and Geneva Historical Society. Finger Lakes Federal Credit Union says the funding, part of a regional recovery program, will strengthen services across several counties while underscoring Geneva’s role as a hub for community-focused financial support.

3. Former Geneva Police Chief Announces Bid for Seneca County Sheriff (fingerlakesdailynews.com) — Former Geneva Police Chief Michael Passalacqua, a Geneva and Phelps native, is running for Seneca County Sheriff in a special election expected this fall. After decades with the Geneva Police Department, including a stint as chief and interim chief, he’s pitching a platform focused on transparency, accountability, and community safety that Geneva-area residents will be watching closely.

4. Geneva Man Arrested on Animal Cruelty Charges (fingerlakesdailynews.com) — A Geneva resident has been charged after authorities say a dog and two cats were found abandoned without food or water in a condemned Canadice mobile home, and he was later located at a Sunlight Lane address in the Town of Geneva. The animals are now in the care of the Ontario County Humane Society and will be put up for adoption while the case proceeds in Canadice Town Court.

5. Geneva native Travie McCoy to bring Gym Class Heroes to state fair (fingerlakes1.com) — Geneva native Travie McCoy is headed back to the Great New York State Fair this summer, bringing Gym Class Heroes to a free-with-admission show at Chevy Court on Sunday, August 30. The alternative hip-hop group behind “Cupid’s Chokehold” and “Stereo Hearts” joins the 2026 Chevrolet Music Series, giving Geneva fans a chance to see a hometown star on a big statewide stage.
