• Gloversville honors 7 for saving a life at a fire (dailygazette.com) — Seven Gloversville firefighters and police officers have been formally honored for rescuing a trapped resident and saving a Fremont Street home during an April 28 house fire. Working late at night, they quickly called a second alarm, attacked the second-floor blaze, and laddered to a third-floor balcony to reach the resident, containing damage and preventing injuries. City leaders praised their focus and teamwork.

• National Grid to pause shutoffs in Capital Region during extreme heat (cbs6albany.com) — Gloversville residents behind on electric bills will get extra protection from National Grid this summer, as the utility pauses shutoffs on days when the heat index is forecast at 90 degrees or higher. The safeguard, part of a broader Capital Region policy, extends for two days in designated heat-island areas and comes alongside payment-assistance programs for struggling customers.
