Town officials have hired outside counsel and say the probe will take months.

2. Police seek suspect accused of pepper spraying Greece store employees (13wham.com) — Police in Greece are asking for help identifying a suspect who pepper-sprayed two employees at a Dewey Avenue retail store Wednesday evening. Investigators shared a photo of the person they’re looking for and are urging anyone with information to contact the department’s tip line or email address.

3. Greece Woman Sentenced for Her Role in Retail Theft Ring (minorityreporter.net) — A Greece woman has been sentenced to 42 months in federal prison for her role in a large-scale retail theft and wire fraud scheme tied to a Rochester pawn shop. Investigators say she and others stole thousands of new retail items, resold them through the shop, and caused over $1.1 million in losses. Greece Police and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the case.

4. Six All-Americans headline Section V lacrosse honors (stargazette.com) — Section V boys lacrosse players from across the Rochester region have been named All-Americans and Academic All-Americans for their standout seasons on the field and in the classroom. Among the Academic All-Americans is student-athlete Eric Odell, listed with Greece, highlighting local talent earning statewide recognition.

East Rochester village creates short-term rental registry for Airbnb, VRBO properties (whec.com) — If you host short-term rentals in or near Greece, it’s worth noting that East Rochester has just created a registry and safety inspection system for Airbnb-style properties. The move follows similar permit requirements already in place in Greece and Irondequoit, as local governments tighten oversight on noise, parking, and safety at vacation rentals across Monroe County.
