• Feds Investigating Westchester County Airport Bird Strike: FAA (patch.com) — Residents near Harrison may notice increased federal attention at Westchester County Airport after an Envoy Air flight struck a bird on takeoff and returned safely Sunday morning. The FAA is now investigating the incident, which involved 59 people aboard an Embraer E170 headed to Chicago, while county police and the airline have not yet commented. 
• New lineup at Rye planning a vigorous state football title defense (lohud.com) — Rye's defending state champion football team is reloading with a largely new lineup, and one of their key regular-season tests will be an October 17 matchup against improved rival Harrison. Coach Dino Garr and his players say expectations remain sky-high despite heavy graduation losses, with several seniors ready to step into starring roles.
