Rover Carries His Stuffed Mouse Everywhere — Still Waiting For A Home: Huntington Adoptable Pet Of The Week (patch.com) — Rover, a shy but playful tuxedo cat at Huntington's Grateful Paw Cat Shelter in East Northport, has spent more than a year watching other felines get adopted while he waits for a patient home. Volunteers say he blossoms with quiet attention, loves other cats—especially his buddy Stanley—and is fully vetted and ready for adoption by someone willing to let him build trust at his own pace.
   

2. 'I'm Still In Shock': Huntington Business Owner Gets $20K Surprise (patch.com) — Huntington's Balance Mental Health Counseling on East Main Street just received a surprise $20,000 grant to install a wheelchair-accessible ramp, making its building fully ADA compliant and easier to enter. Owner Tanairy Fernandez says the funding and added TV advertising will help the practice reach more local residents, including Hispanic community members and women facing perinatal mental health challenges.
   

3. Shoplifters Strike at Huntington Department Store, Haul Off Nearly $800 in Goods (longisland.com) — Police are asking Huntington residents for help identifying two men who stole about $760 in clothing from the Burlington store at 839 New York Ave. in June. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for tips that lead to an arrest, and residents can share information anonymously by phone, app, or online.
   

4. New Harborfields basketball coach comes with years of experience (tbrnewsmedia.com) — Harborfields boys basketball is getting a new head coach in longtime Huntington resident John Mateyko, a veteran of college and high school sidelines who favors an up-tempo style. Huntington High School is also welcoming Michael Ferreira as its new boys coach, promising fresh leadership for two neighboring programs as they prepare for a Nov. 28 home opener against Cold Spring Harbor.
