Man Charged With Felony DWI After Selden Crash: Police (patch.com) — A 41-year-old man has been charged with felony aggravated DWI after police say his car rear-ended another vehicle at a Selden intersection Saturday afternoon, with the case now moving through First District Court in Central Islip. He pleaded not guilty, was released on his own recognizance, and has had his driver's license suspended while the case proceeds.

Long Island Ducks Get Their Own Day In Suffolk After Championship Run (patch.com) — Suffolk County has officially declared Oct. 6 as "Long Island Ducks Day," celebrating the team's championship season at Fairfield Properties Ballpark in Central Islip, just a short drive from Islip. The Ducks capped a franchise-best 80-46 season with a perfect 6-0 postseason run and recognition for pitcher Nick Margevicius and mascot QuackerJack.
