• Gov. Hochul reinforces commitment to bring Olympics to Lake Placid (dailygazette.com) — State leaders are actively exploring a joint Lake Placid–New York City bid to host a future Winter Olympics, with Governor Hochul touting the village’s upgraded venues and Olympic legacy. Over the next year, an exploratory committee will study feasibility, including housing, transportation, and use of ORDA sites like Whiteface and Mount Van Hoevenberg, potentially shaping Lake Placid’s economy and infrastructure for decades.
   

• Recruiting Younger Members Drives Local and State Government Law Chair Chris Trapp - New York State Bar Association (nysba.org) — Lake Placid will host the New York State Bar Association’s Local and State Government Law Section fall meeting October 9–11, bringing village, town, and county attorneys from across the state to town. Section chair Chris Trapp is using the event and monthly Zoom meetings to recruit younger lawyers, highlight the variety of municipal practice, and deepen networking among government attorneys.
