• Lakewood amends Fairmount Avenue project contract (post-journal.com) — Lakewood trustees have expanded the engineering contract for the Fairmount Triangle stormwater basin project, using leftover grant funds without adding local costs. The added work will improve flood control near the Fairmount Avenue viaduct and better filter pollutants before they reach Chautauqua Lake, with new plantings planned for nearby homes. 
• Thousands flock to Letchworth State Park to catch Big Boy No. 4014 (rochesterfirst.com) — A Lakewood resident was among thousands who traveled to Letchworth State Park to see Big Boy No. 4014, the world’s largest operating steam engine, on its 250th Anniversary tour. The restored 1941 locomotive drew railfans from across the country as it passed through Western New York on its way toward a July 4 celebration in Philadelphia.
