• State Tax Department sends error letter to taxpayer demanding refund repayment, but the mistake was theirs (whec.com) — A Livonia resident received a frightening state tax notice wrongly saying she wasn’t entitled to her refund, even though the money was already in her account. After challenging the letter, the state confirmed it was an error, and officials advise anyone getting an “Account Adjustment Notice” to respond within 30 days and verify the numbers with their preparer or the tax department.
