• City Council Extends Posh Pets Animal Shelter Contract, Approves HVAC Work At Shelter (patch.com) — Long Beach residents will see their city animal shelter remain under Posh Pets' management for at least five more years, while the city also tackles long-needed HVAC and electrical upgrades at the 24/7 facility. Officials detailed health-code ventilation issues, aging split systems, and how a grant plus city funds and a free PSEG service upgrade will improve conditions for animals and staff. 
• Long Beach City Council Recognizes Police Department Members For Role In Drug And Gun Bust (patch.com) — Long Beach neighbors learned how their police department helped seize 23 illegal guns and large quantities of narcotics during an August raid at a local residence, prompting informal recognition from the City Council. Officials praised the restored narcotics task force while stressing that the accused Long Beach man has pleaded not guilty and remains presumed innocent.
