Mastering the SAT Math Section: Strategies for Success (Gr. 7-12) at Great Neck Library

To excel on the SAT Math section requires more than knowing formulas. It requires strong mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

In this interactive 90-minute workshop, Dr. Richard Gottesman, former Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Queen's University and founder of Gottesman Education, will guide students through SAT Math problems while sharing practical problem-solving strategies for tackling a wide variety of questions. Throughout the session, students will have opportunities to solve problems independently before discussing their solutions as a group. Participants are encouraged to ask questions and share their ideas during the workshop.

Topics will include:

• Strategies for approaching challenging SAT Math problems
• Algebra, geometry, and advanced math concepts frequently tested on the SAT
• Multiple solution methods for solving SAT Math problems efficiently

Instructor, Dr. Richard Gottesman, earned his B.S. and M.S. in Mathematics from Brown University and his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Dr. Gottesman is an experienced tutor who is passionate about helping students achieve higher SAT scores. He mentors students of all ages, including children as young as seven, and adults in advanced mathematics. He taught number theory at the COSMOS program and guides students in writing research papers in mathematics.

Join us at the Great Neck Library Main Branch (159 Bayview Avenue) on Thursday, September 3, at 6:30 p.m. This Session is designed for teens in grades 7-12 who want to prep for the upcoming exam.
