• Vehicle careens off exit ramp of Northern State, sets Dix Hills house on fire (newsday.com) — Melville volunteer firefighters were among more than a dozen departments battling a serious house fire in nearby Dix Hills after a car flew off the Northern State Parkway exit ramp early Monday. Minor injuries were reported, investigators are still determining the full extent of damage and injuries, and state crews are replacing road signs destroyed in the crash.
