Authorities ID 47-Year-Old Victim, 79-Year-Old Driver In Deadly Pedestrian Crash
A 2011 Toyota Rav 4 had been traveling south on Angola Road, in the Town of Cornwall, when it struck a pedestrian, police say.
TOWN OF CORNWALL, NY — Authorities have identified the man struck and killed by a car in Orange County.
The Town of Cornwall Police Department says that on Tuesday, around 8:38 p.m., officers were dispatched by the Orange County 911 Center to the area of 186 Angola Road, after receiving a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
After an investigation, officers found that a 2011 Toyota Rav 4, driven by 79-year-old Ira Margolis, of Highland Mills, had been traveling south on Angola Road when it struck 47-year-old Juan Sumba, of Queens.

Sumba was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh, by Cornwall EMS, but he succumbed to his injuries.
Police say that Margolis remained at the scene and was fully cooperative. While the incident continues to be investigated by detectives, police say that no criminality is suspected.

The Town of Cornwall Police Department was assisted at the scene by Cornwall EMS, New Windsor EMS, the Cornwall Fire Department, the Village of Cornwall on Hudson Police Department, and the New York State Police (BCI, Collision Reconstruction Unit).
