Police Arrest 2 In Hit-And-Run That Left Man In Coma Since August

KINGSTON, NY — Arrests have been made in an August hit-and-run that left the victim in a coma.

Two were arrested in Kingston in connection to the case where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at Broadway and Liberty Street on Aug. 1 and seriously injured, according to the Kingston Police Department. Police responded to the intersection at about 11:30 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian hit by a motor vehicle. The department said the vehicle left the scene.

The pedestrian suffered serious physical injury and was airlifted to Mid-Hudson Regional. The victim was later transferred to a long-term Intensive Care Unit and remains in a coma.

Police identified the two arrested as Justin A. Greico, 25, and Katie M. Potter, 39. After what police described as a two-month investigation, Greico and Potter were arrested Wednesday.

Charges include second-degree reckless assault, second-degree vehicular assault, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, tampering with physical evidence, failing to report a personal injury accident or leaving the scene, reckless driving, aggravated unlicensed operation, first-degree falsifying business records, fifth-degree insurance fraud and tampering with physical evidence.

Police said the two were processed and taken to the Ulster County Jail to await arraignment in Ulster County Court on Thursday morning.
