Potential Nor’easter Emerges For Hudson Valley: Here’s What To Know

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A Nor’easter could bring gusty winds and heavy rain to the lower Hudson Valley later this week, according to meteorologists.

The National Weather Service is monitoring the potential for the storm to impact the region starting around Friday and into the weekend.

In the short term, the early part of the week is expected to be mostly dry and cool.

Autumn arrives on Tuesday, and cool temperatures will prevail. Daytime highs through the weekend in the Hudson Valley are expected to reach into the mid-60s.

There is a slight chance of showers overnight tonight and Tuesday, followed by dry weather Wednesday and Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The next significant chance of rain is expected on Friday and Saturday, when the chance for precipitation will be between 40-50 percent in the lower Hudson Valley, and 30-40 percent in northern areas of the region, the National Weather Service said, as of Monday.

AccuWeather meteorologists report they are also monitoring a storm which could impact multiple states later this week, though as of Monday afternoon, its exact track remains uncertain.

If it tracks toward the coast, it could mean drenching rain and damaging winds, according to AccuWeather.

“A full-blown nor'easter could lead to major travel disruptions due to flooding rain, wind gusts that could trigger power outages and significant coastal flooding,” AccuWeather reports.
