Rain, Snow, Wintry Mix In Forecast For Hudson Valley: Here's What You Need To Know

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Rain is expected to impact the Hudson Valley throughout the day today, with some areas changing over to snow and a wintry mix tonight, according to meteorologists.
The National Weather Service in Albany reports that a low pressure system will “bring rain, snow and a wintry mix, including freezing rain, to portions of eastern New York and western New England this afternoon into tonight.”
It cautions motorists to be prepared for slippery conditions for the evening commute and overnight.

The National Weather Service in New York is forecasting that southern areas of the Hudson Valley region will experience plain rain throughout the day today.
Late in the evening tonight through midnight, a wintry mix is possible across the Lower Hudson Valley, according to the National Weather Service.

Meanwhile, an air quality alert is in effect until midnight tonight which includes Rockland and Westchester counties.
“Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Fine Particulates,” the alert states.
The New York State Department of Health recommends limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity while the alert is in effect.
The next chance for rain and snow is on Friday, when the National Weather Service is predicting a 100 percent chance of precipitation.
Meteorologists are also tracking a coastal storm which could impact the region late Sunday into Monday.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 40. Calm wind.
Thursday Night: A chance of snow, mainly after 1 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 29. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Friday: Rain, possibly mixed with snow, becoming all rain after 4 p.m. High near 37. Light east wind. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Friday Night: A chance of rain, mainly before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
