Special Weather Statement Issued For Hudson Valley: What To Know

The Halloween weather forecast looks to be pleasant for trick-or-treating, according to meteorologists.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The ongoing dry conditions in the Hudson Valley have led to an elevated risk of fire spread today, according to a special weather statement from the National Weather Service.

The statement, issued early Friday, covers a wide area of southern New York and includes Ulster, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.

“The combination of dry fuels, gusty northwest winds between 25 and 35 mph, and minimum relative humidity values as low as 40 to 50 percent will contribute to an elevated risk of fire spread within much of the Hudson Valley,” the statement said.

Residents are urged to use extra caution when using machinery or matches, and when disposing of cigarette butts.
