In an email, Estreich told Patch, "Last night, voters here in Suffolk and across our nation demanded change and a check on power."
"As of this morning, our race for Suffolk County Comptroller is still too close to call, so we’ll wait for as long as it takes for every vote to be counted," he said.
GOP Chairman Jesse Garcia maintained the race has been called in favor of Losquadro and that there could not be enough votes for Estreich.
"There's a 6000 vote countywide spread," he said. "There's not enough uncounted ballots to change to mathematically change the outcome."
The role of comptroller oversees the county's financial operations, like accounting and payroll, and also provides oversight and accountability for taxpayers.
The role is presently filled by outgoing comptroller John Kennedy.
