• State audit flags East Norwich fire company for untracked fuel spending (newsday.com) — Residents in Muttontown should know that the East Norwich Volunteer Fire Company, which serves parts of the village, was cited in a state audit for failing to track about $7,600 worth of fuel. Auditors found nearly 3,000 gallons unaccounted for and poor recordkeeping on fuel deliveries and vehicle use, and fire company leaders have agreed to tighten controls and improve monitoring.
