Dopey Recovery Short Film Festival

The Dopey Podcast with Dave Manheim is proud to present the first annual Dopey Short Film Festival! The event will be hosted at the SVA Theater from 7-10pm with catering from Katz’s Deli and an afterparty at The Maze sober bar. The Dopey Short Film Festival is a celebration of raw storytelling, dark humor, recovery, redemption, and the messy humanity that lives inside addiction and recovery. The festival showcases short films, documentaries, animations, music videos, and experimental work that explore drugs, alcoholism, trauma, mental health, relapse, absurdity, connection, and survival. Along with screenings, the event will feature filmmaker Q&As, comedy, music, live conversations, and community connection. The goal is simple: bring people together through film, laughter, honesty, and art, all while proving that recovery stories don’t have to be boring. At its core, the Dopey Short Film Festival celebrates creativity born from chaos, because sometimes the darkest stories make the best art.
