Did You Notice The New Feature On Some Citi Bikes?

Lyft tests new feature on about 10 percent of Citi Bikes.

NEW YORK, NY— Citi Bike has started rolling out cellphone mounts on a portion of its electric bikes, aiming to make riding safer and more convenient, as first reported by Streetsblog.

The mounts, introduced by parent company Lyft, let riders keep both hands on the handlebars while navigating or locating docking stations, addressing one of the most frequently requested features.

For now, the mounts are part of a limited pilot on roughly 10 percent of Citi Bike’s e-bikes.

A Lyft spokesperson said it is evaluating the program and called the feature a “genuine safety improvement,” with the potential for broader expansion.

The goal is straightforward: reduce the need for riders to handle their phones mid-ride and lower the risk of distracted cycling.
