Man Dies After Being Held In NYPD Custody At NYC Courthouse
Police said a 51-year-old man was found unconscious in the Brooklyn Central Booking building around 11 a.m. Sunday.
NEW YORK CITY — A man died after being hospitalized while in NYPD custody at a central booking holding cell, police and sources said Monday.
Hector Sierra, 51, was rushed to the hospital after being found ill at Brooklyn Central Booking, 120 Schermerhorn St., just after 11 a.m. Sunday.
He was taken by EMS to NYU Langone Cobble Hill, where he died.

The NYPD’s Force Investigation Division is investigating the death, police said Monday.
Sierra was facing several charges in Brooklyn, including tampering with physical evidence, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a controlled substance and trespassing.

Police said Sierra lived in the Bensonhurst neighborhood prior to his arrest.
The death marks the second at a Brooklyn facility this month.
Last week, police found Zamiqua Miller, 33, unconscious in a holding cell at Kings County Criminal Court. Her cause of death remains under investigation, and the circumstances are still unknown.
