• Police Searching For Woman Who Defaced Statue At Notre Dame Elementary: PD (patch.com) — Police are asking New Hyde Park residents for help identifying a woman who allegedly defaced a St. Michael statue at Notre Dame Elementary School on Thursday afternoon. The suspect, described as a white woman wearing a pink shirt and blue jeans and carrying a suitcase, reportedly walked onto the school grounds, damaged the statue, and left on foot. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers or call 911.
   

• NYC Sanitation Department working to increase fines for improper needle disposal (abc7ny.com) — New Hyde Park resident Christine Thomas is weighing in as New York City sanitation officials push for higher fines and better education around safe disposal of needles, including those used for popular weight-loss drugs. With dozens of sanitation workers already injured this year, the city is urging residents to use proper sharps containers or sturdy labeled bottles to keep workers safe.
